Merdeka Day

Several of us Pakatan Rakyat Perak state assemblymen are here at the state government celebratory program of Hari Merdeka in full spirit of patriotism to celebrate the independence of Malaya from colonial forces.

We had completely open hearts in setting aside political differences in together celebrating this memorable day. In the pantomime performance titled “Malaysiaku berdaulat, tanah tumpahnya darahku” that was performed beautifully by the talented young performers, that was suppose to inspire nationalism and patriotism, turned out to be a fearmongering sandiwara to instil uneasiness amongst the people.

This was done for no other purpose than to score political points, brainwashing those unaware, and condemning those who are dissatisfied with those in government.

In a scene depicting street protestors holding placards of 'tidak puas hati' 'protes', that was voice-overred with a demonising narrative and hauntingly fearmongering music, it is clear that BN is grossly misusing their position in government to politicise the sacred Merdeka day by demonising acts perfectly within the democratic rights of Malaysians enshrined within the constitution.

We, wakil rakyat from Pakatan Rakyat with all our will and might, condemn this heinous and unpatriotic act by BN government of politicising this sacred day of independence, especially through using young aspiring and impressionable Malaysians performers.
